About Hotel Lutetia

Throughout the 20th century, and still today, many artists, authors, and politicians have stayed at the Lutetia Paris, including Pablo Picasso, Josephine Baker, Charles de Gaulle, Catherine Deneuve, Isabelle Huppert, Coluche, and many others.

Since its opening in 1910, designed as a luxurious hostelry for Le Bon Marché customers, Lutetia quickly became a hub for both the anonymous and the famous, fostering art, philosophy, science, and politics. This success was interrupted by the First World War and again in June 1940 when the hotel was requisitioned during the occupation. In 1945, Lutetia resumed its role, becoming a crucial center for displaced people and families seeking reunion on General de Gaulle’s orders. The Lutetia Paris then returned to its original vocation, welcoming travelers from all over the world as well as Parisian clientele, to become the iconic Saint-Germain-des-Prés establishment we know today. With its lounges, bars, restaurants, rooms and suites, the Lutetia, completely renovated in 2018, continues the tradition by establishing itself as a unique meeting place in the heart of the Left Bank.
